Michelle's
Christmas gift ideas for families
With us all gearing up for this time of
year some ideas to take the stress out of what to give
are:
-Order online so you can have the gifts
delivered to where you are spending Christmas day. I use
Amazon.com as a good place to start and compare prices,
and also good online toy stores like IQToys in New
Zealand and One Step Ahead
in the USA. For personalized
Christmas gifts, you can't do better than the
Personalization Mall, including a really cute 'Baby's
first Christmas' bear.
-Photos of your children in fridge magnet
frames are lightweight and don't take up alot of baggage
space.
-Children's books are my favourite gift
to give to my nephews and nieces especially ones about
Kiwi life. Again these are lightweight and don't take up
alot of room.
-As all the children are getting older
this year we are giving each family a cd of some local
bands music so it is a shared gift that they can enjoy
together.
-Funky t-shirts/hats
-A family recipe book. Get everyone to
e-mail you their favourite recipe and put them together
in a album/scrapbook with photos or drawings (children
can help with this) and you have also started a family
tradition; leave empty pages to add to.
-Or if you have some time with your
extended family leading up to the big day, purchase a
large blank canvas and acrylic paints and get everyone's
foot/hand prints young and old onto the canvas. We did
this last year and had foot and hand prints from the
youngest 6 months to the eldest 94 years old. Then gift
the picture to the family you are staying with. Everyone
has fun doing it and it is a everlasting memory of all.
No matter how you choose to show you
care, enjoy your special time together.
Merry Christmas and Happy safe travels
to you all.....
