We loved the CARES child aviation restraint when we put it to the test.

The CARES was easy to install in the coach-class airplane seat and a lot easier than trying to carry and install a car seat. When our test pilot (Ben, 3) got twitchy on the long flight, we let him take his shoulders out of the straps, and we were still happy to know we could easily slip them back on when the fasten-seat-belt sign lit up for turbulence.

Overall we rate this product highly and much prefer it to carrying a car seat (as the FAA recommended before this product became available). It does not weigh much (400g) and was easy to transport in it's carry pouch in my cabin bag.

The CARES also comes with an installation DVD, which was a great help to watch before we set off and got Ben excited about his upcoming trip too --- double the value!

CARES features:

CARES (child aviation restraint system) is designed for children between 22-44lb who are able to sit in their own airplane seat. The device was designed, developed, and promoted through the FAA stringent testing by Louise Stoll (grandma extraordinaire) after she saw her daughter shlepping two car seats and two children through the airport. We just love that story too!

  • Weighs less than 400g

  • Fits in a 30cm carry pouch

  • Simple to install

  • Easy to adjust to fit your child

  • Suitable to use in any airplane seats except exit rows
