British Airways Holidays...

Dec 2006

BA Holidays - Hotels

British Airways Holidays offer both independent and branded hotels in 250 destinations worldwide with prices to suit all budgets.
As one of the most respected names in the travel industry, BA Holidays pride themselves on negotiating excellent rates for their customers. Many of their hotel rates include 'value for money' bonus offers such as free child places and bonus nights.

Current best selling destinations are Paris, Rome, London, Barcelona and New York.

BA Holidays - Car Hire

BA Holidays offer car hire in over 100 destinations through partners Hertz and Alamo. Whether you need an airport pick up at Heathrow or a week's car hire on the Costa Del Sol, BA Holidays can help.

I freaked at the thought of the distances when I got to the UK with a 2 and a 3 year old in tow. How on earth would I get around to see all the friends and relatives without fuss?

I'd forgotten how frequent the service stations on the motorways are. They really are well set up for kids so that however long the journey, you can always take a break pretty soon after someone says, "I need the toilet!" or "I'm bored!".

I'd just reply, "OK guys, let's look out for a big sign that tells us when the next stopping place is..." (15 mins entertainment); then, "Right, here it is! Well done guys you spotted it. So do you want to stop in 5 miles or 25?" (10 mins more discussion in which boredom is forgotten).

I found good play areas and grass to run about on and food everywhere I stopped so long as I used only the motorway service stations. Those on the A-roads were much less little-kid friendly - but we still got by.

I picked my car up from Hertz in Cornwall, and deposited it at Heathrow 3 weeks later. They kitted it out with the right car seats for the children - and a handy rubbish bag too. Now why don't I use one of those more often? Our car has never been so tidy!

BA Holidays can help you out with great rates year round! From £34 per day in the UK, £27 per day in Spain and £36 per day in France. They also offer an early booking bonus with worldwide partner Hertz.

BA Holidays - Sightseeing Tours

Have you booked your hotel but need something extra special to complete your weekend break? BA Holidays have a great range of sightseeing tours and attractions.

BA London Eye tickets at £13 are a great way to make a trip to the capital a memorable one.

When we took our kids to London, we left them with relatives to tour Battersea Children's Zoo (a great sized zoo for pint-sized kids) while my husband and I did the Eye. We thought they'd find the trip too slow and I think we made the right call - riding a Shetland pony called 'Poppy' and petting rabbits rated far higher in their book than seeing London from the sky - but we thought the Eye was fantastic!

The kids did enjoy their Thames River cruise, and tickets for this are best bought in advance as the queue/lines at the ticket booths can be long and it's frustratingly difficult to tell where you should be queuing until you get to the front of the wrong line...you get the picture!

BA Holidays can help here too - from river cruises to Madame Tussauds to West End theatre tickets, BA Holidays have plenty to keep the whole family occupied.
